Coriander is a plant that, besides being used in the kitchen to flavor foods (fruits) and garnish dishes (leaves), also possesses a drug in its dried mature fruits and leaves. The volatile essential oil is obtained from ground fruits through steam distillation, and it is primarily composed of Coriandrol, with minor amounts of Borneol and Geraniol. It is mainly known for its carminative, digestive, and colic-preventive properties and is indicated for digestive difficulties, rheumatic and muscular problems, and physical tension.

Traditionally, it is also used as a stomachic and antispasmodic, mainly in the form of an herbal infusion. The planting density is 8 plants per square meter.
